New

Use the New command to begin a new valuation request. The data can be entered manually into a blank worksheet or imported from an existing data file. For more information, see the Reference section below.

  1. Do one of the following:
  2. On the toolbar, click New.
  3. On the File menu, click New.
  1. Select Begin with blank worksheet.
  2. Click OK.

 

  1. On the toolbar, click New.
  2. Select Import data from estimate file.
  3. In the Type field, select EMS.
  4. (Optional) Click Browse. Find the location of the file and click the file name. Then, click Open.

    Note
    : Browse to the EMS file location only if this path is not already set.
  5. In the EMS Viewer, select your View type. New is the default view.  
  6. Click the Estimate ID of the claim you want to import.
  7. Click OK to import the data.

 

  1. On the toolbar, click New.
  2. Select Import data from estimate file.
  3. In the Type field, select MIE.
  4. Click Browse. Find the location of the file and click the file name. Then, click Open.
  5. Click OK to import the data.

Begin with blank worksheet

Select this option to enter data manually into a blank worksheet.

Import data from estimate file

Select this option to import estimate data into a new worksheet from the specified data file. The Browse button becomes active when the Import option is selected.

Type

Click the button to display the list. Then, select the type of file to be imported.

Options: EMS or MIE

EMS is a CIECA-standard file format allows for the transfer of estimate data between estimating and management systems.

MIE is a proprietary file format used by Mitchell applications. The file name is based on the last eight characters of the external estimate ID, followed by the .mie extension.

File

Enter the path and filename, or click Browse to navigate to the file location.

View

Select one of the following views:

  • New
  • Imported
  • All

Claim information

The following claim information appears for claims in EMS format:

  • Estimate ID
  • Claim Number
  • Owner
  • Vehicle
  • VIN
  • Estimating System
  • Created Date
 

Note: Selecting and double-clicking an entry in the EMS Viewer imports the file.

 

Browse
After identifying the type of file to be imported, click Browse to navigate to the file and select it from the directory. The path and filename appears in the File text box.

OK
Completes your request to begin a new valuation.

Shortcut: O


Cancel
Cancels your request to begin a new valuation and returns to the main window.

Shortcut: C
