Job Cost Settings
You can set RepairCenter to automatically calculate profit for service
line items such as Hazardous Waste, Paint and Materials, Body Supplies,
Towing, and/or Storage.
To establish job cost settings
- Click More , then click Configuration . Select the Analytics
tab. The Job Cost tab opens by
default.
- Enter the appropriate Profit
Percentage for each of the first 5 items listed (Hazardous Waste, Paint and Materials, Body Supplies, Towing, and Storage), and then select the AutoCalc check box. (Note: If the check box is not selected,
no calculations will be done for that service item, even if a figure is
entered in the percent field.) **See special AutoCalc notes below.
- Enter the Target Gross
Profits for Labor, Parts, and Profit per Hour $ (the bottom three fields).
- You can establish target
Gross Profit percentage by Department
and/or Overall Job. To set the
appropriate settings by department, double-click the GP%
column and enter the desired percentage for each line.
The totals will be highlighted
in red on many reports whenever the job costing is under the expected
GP target set here.
**Special AutoCalc Notes:
- We recommend that AutoCalc not be set for Towing. Towing bills need to be received in the Services tab using the vendor name, invoice number, and the date the vehicle was actually received at the shop.
- If you use the paint vendor's cost invoice for each repair order, you will not need to AutoCalc Paint and materials. You will use the paint cost printout as an invoice to be received in the Services tab using the Paint Vendor and the RO number as the invoice number when posting.
- If you are planning to purchase a paint vendor's interface to RepairCenter, you will need to also make sure that the AutoCalc for Paint and materials is disabled after the interface is installed.

Voiding Auto-Calculated Costs
Certain profit centers can be set to automatically calculate the cost of sale by a percentage determined in Configuration > Analytics > Job Cost. If you have setup automatic job costing, it cannot be removed on the ROs that were created while the automatic job costing was enabled. To remove automatic job costing on future ROs, clear the checkbox to Enable Auto Calc.
