Convert an Opportunity into a Repair Order

Use the List View tab to convert an opportunity into a repair order.

Converting an opportunity into a repair order is how repair orders are created. When you need a repair order in advance of the opportunity, you can create an opportunity, convert it into a repair order, and then later merge the repair order with an opportunity (estimate), if necessary. ExamplesClosed You need to quickly process a tow bill. Technicians who clock in through Shop Clock need to tear down the vehicle in preparation for an estimate.

If your shop is set up for force marketing, the Marketing dialog box appears during the conversion. This dialog box is where you complete the fields required by your shop. Required fields aren't marked, but a message indicates if you skip a required field.

How to

  1. On the toolbar, click Jobs, then click List View.
  2. On the List View tab, click to select the opportunity.
  3. Click Convert to RO.
  4. In the "You are about to convert the following Opportunity to a Repair Order" message, click OK.
  5. In any additional messages, provide input as needed until the conversion is complete. (For help completing the Marketing dialog box, see "Complete force marketing information" later in this topic.)
  6. To confirm a successful conversion, check that the converted job is listed on the Whiteboard tab.
  1. In the Marketing dialog box, complete at least the required fields.
  2. Click Mandatory.
  3. Complete at least the required fields.
  4. Do one of the following:
  • To save your changes and convert the opportunity into a repair order, click Save & Convert.

  • To ignore forced marketing requirements, discard changes, and convert the opportunity into a repair order, click Skip & Convert.

    Note: Ignoring forced marketing requires administrator privileges, so you'll need to enter your credentials.
